How did it all begin? Laima Paine decided that retirement was in the not-too-distant future and she found herself in Taradale following her 'lady of the manor' dreams. She had always made jams and chutneys for the family's own use, as well as for school and church fêtes, and when it was suggested that she run a stall at a small food and wine festival she jumped at the chance. While it all seemed to be a bit of a lark, things began to develop very quickly. Laima's home kitchen wasn't big enough to cope with demand and so it was in to a commercial kitchen in Castlemaine, which she shares with Pud For All Seasons Laima still cooks the way she always has, using quality ingredients, local when possible, with no artificial additives, in small batches and with the same wonderful taste. And what's more, she still gets the same satisfaction from producing her jams and chutney as she did years ago when she just made a few jars here and there. |
